Subscriptions and Usage

The public game catalog is open to everyone. Starting or continuing a BoardGameBrain chat on the website requires a signed-in account with an active paid subscription.
What stays free on the web
- Browse and search the public game catalog.
- Open game detail pages and BoardGameGeek source links.
- Create an account, manage privacy choices, and read legal or support content.
A subscription is checked by the BoardGameBrain server before each new web generation request. Losing access does not erase existing history; you may still read saved sessions while signed in, subject to service availability.
Plans and pricing
BoardGameBrain offers Basic and Premium subscription access. The exact current price, billing period, taxes, included features, and any introductory offer are displayed at checkout. We do not rely on a fixed price printed on this page because pricing can vary by platform, country, currency, tax, and approved offering.
Premium may include higher limits or additional research capability. The checkout and in-product plan screen are the source for the specific plan being purchased.
Additional-usage packs
Eligible subscribers may buy an additional-usage pack when available. Checkout shows the amount added. Usage is not a fixed number of identical questions: rules-fast, research, and photo-analysis tasks can consume different amounts because their processing costs differ.
- A pack does not provide a subscription and can only be bought and used by an eligible subscriber.
- Usage is attached to the signed-in BoardGameBrain account, has no cash value, and cannot be transferred or resold.
- Purchased usage currently does not expire while the account remains available. Promotional usage may use separate conditions.
- Unused usage can become inaccessible after account deletion or termination.
- After purchase, BoardGameBrain waits for server confirmation before showing the usage as available.
Automatic renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the price and interval disclosed for the purchase until canceled, subject to any price-change notice required by the billing platform or applicable law. Cancel before the next renewal through the platform where you subscribed:
- Apple: use Apple subscription settings.
- Web: open Account, choose Manage membership, and use the secure billing portal when that link is available.
Cancellation normally stops future renewal rather than immediately ending an already-paid period; the billing platform displays the effective end date.
Refunds, reversals, and disputes
Refund eligibility and processing are controlled by the originating platform and applicable law. Apple handles App Store refund requests through Report a Problem. For a web purchase, contact BoardGameBrain support; the secure billing portal may provide transaction or subscription-management details but does not necessarily offer a refund control. A refund, chargeback, reversal, or fraud finding may remove access and revoke unused usage associated with that transaction.
Cross-platform access and duplicate subscriptions
Entitlements may be recognized across iOS and web when purchases use the same identified BoardGameBrain account. Purchases made under different accounts may not combine automatically. Apple and web subscriptions are separate billing relationships; purchasing on both platforms can create duplicate charges. Check account settings before starting another subscription.
Purchase support
If a completed purchase is not reflected after a short processing delay, sign in to the account used at checkout. On iOS, use Restore Purchases. On the website, reopen the membership page and use Check membership or Check fulfillment when shown. Then contact support@boardgamebrain.app with the platform, product, approximate time, and non-sensitive transaction reference.
